UPDATES & RELEASE NOTES

Keep your studio up to date.

Updates are currently installed manually from this website. The app does not download or install updates automatically.

Public installer temporarily paused

The unrestricted evaluation installer has been withdrawn from this website while the licensing-enabled replacement is checked. The version details below describe the previous public preview, not an available new release.

Previous public preview

Version 0.2.0 · Build 3 · Universal
macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Apple-notarised 17 October 2026.

This is the free evaluation preview. Paid activation and edition enforcement are not enabled in this public build. It includes the recipe editor, filming plans, recording, editing and local export workflow for evaluation.

How to install an update

  1. Save your work, stop recording or exporting, and quit Recipe Works Studio.
  2. Back up your project folders and original media. Check the new release notes and system requirements before installing.
  3. Download the installer from this website, open the disk image and drag Recipe Works Studio into Applications. Choose Replace when macOS asks to replace the older app.
  4. Open Recipe Works Studio from Applications, then reopen your existing project. Eject the installer disk image.

Replace the application only. Keep your project folders, media, preferences and Recipe Works Studio Keychain items. Do not use an app-cleaner tool to remove them.

Your licence and saved work

For licensed releases, compatible maintenance updates within your purchased major version use the existing activation and local settings. An update does not renew a subscription or reset monthly allowances. Internet access may still be needed under your licence verification policy. If activation is unavailable after an update, keep your project files and contact support before deleting or reinstalling licensing data.

Which updates are included?

When paid sales begin, released maintenance updates within the licensed major version are included without another software purchase. For example, version 0.2 to 0.3 stays within major version 0; version 1.0 is a new major version. A buy-once licence continues to cover its purchased major version. Subscription access remains subject to its paid period and verification requirements. Future major-version eligibility and any upgrade price will be stated separately before purchase.

This policy does not promise a release schedule, every future major version, or indefinite compatibility with future macOS versions. See the software terms.

Before a major-version upgrade

Check licence eligibility and project compatibility first. Keep a backup that the older app can open, and do not overwrite your only project copy when trying a new major version.
